Sex Workers: Has FIFA or Anti-Trafficking Activity Affected Your Work?
The BC Coalition of Experiential Communities (BCCEC) is tracking the impacts of FIFA-related activities and anti-trafficking initiatives on sex workers in British Columbia. We are also here if you experience violence, coercion, exploitation, or trafficking, and can help connect you with resources and support if you need them. We want to hear from you if you experience:
- • A loss of income or clients
• Changes to online platforms
• Increased account suspensions, removals, or restrictions
• Hotel staff questioning, monitoring, or refusing service
• Bar, venue, or security staff interfering with your work
• Increased police contact or surveillance
• Problems crossing borders or travelling
• Eviction threats, housing concerns, or complaints from landlords
• Harassment, profiling, or discrimination because someone assumes you are being trafficked
• Any other disruption that affects your ability to work safely or earn a living
No issue is too small. Your experiences matter and can help us understand what is happening on the ground during FIFA and related anti-trafficking activities. This information will help us identify impacts, raise concerns with decision-makers, and advocate for the rights and safety of sex workers. The BCCEC has your back. If something happens, please contact us and let us know what occurred, when it happened, and where. Your report can remain confidential, or we can support you in making an official report.
Remember, you have rights no matter what anyone tells you. We are here if you have any questions or need support in any way.
